Message from the Principal regarding current School Closure

4/21/2020

Kid Street Families,

Please click on the "Parent and Student Resources" tab to find out how to receive therapy during the school closure. Our School Counselor, Erin Prieskorn, has developed a way for students to receive services during this time. Please read the message from her about these fantastic resources to help your student.

Dear Kid Street families,

We hope that this message finds you healthy and safe. We have posted some new resources especially for parents on the Parent and Student Resources page. Please take a few minutes to browse through. These resources were sent by our district psychologist to help with anxiety, concerns, and parenting support during this unprecedented time.

As always, please do not hesitate to email Kathleen or your child’s teacher for extra support during distance-learning. Thank you.

Dear Kid Street Charter Families,

I have been truly inspired by how our Sonoma County community is coming together and working together to make the best of a very difficult situation.

I know that many of you have been financially and emotionally impacted by our shelter in place order. These financial and emotional impacts will be considered by our educational community as we step into an online learning format.

Governor Newsom has required that schools begin to provide distance learning and food for students. In cooperation with the Sonoma County Office of Education and the Public Health Department, all school in our county will continue with distance-learning until the end of the school year.

Kid Street has absolutely amazing and talented teachers who have been working tirelessly to develop a manageable, impactful, and engaging distance-learning program. Please be patient in this process as this is new for all of us. Do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher with specific questions. Also, I welcome any concerns or questions that you may have for me. We are just a phone call or email away.

Information about free lunches, our Brown Bag drive-through, and online learning are all on this website.

Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much – Helen Keller

Take care,

Kathleen Mallamo, Principal

We strive daily to reach every student so that all may become innovative, critical thinkers that collaborate effectively and contribute meaningfully in a technically advanced world. It is through education that we as individuals are entitled the chance to move upward in society, maintain self and family, and obtain the skills needed to be productive citizens in the global community.

Parents, I trust that your child’s experience at Kid Street will be a life changing one. The 21st Century presents our students with more unique challenges and opportunities than ever before. I want students and families to take advantage of the array of services provided to enhance their growth while here at our school. From basic services such as food and clothing, to enrichment opportunities such as art, drama, and engineering, we want our students to leave our doors as well rounded, confident, and talented individuals.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time to discuss our program and opportunities.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Mallamo
